What is the AI Extract Info module?

The AI Extract Info module presents visitors with a free-text prompt and uses server-side AI to extract structured fields from their natural language response. Instead of a visitor filling in five separate form fields, they can write a single paragraph describing their situation - and the AI pulls out the relevant data automatically.

The module supports multi-turn extraction. If the visitor's first response is incomplete, the AI can ask a targeted follow-up question (up to 3 turns) to capture any missing fields before advancing the workflow.

How it works

  1. The module shows a configurable open-ended prompt (e.g. "Please describe your issue in as much detail as you can")
  2. The visitor types a freeform response (up to 2000 characters by default, configurable)
  3. The response is sent server-side to the AI via hybridAI.php
  4. The AI extracts configured fields and returns structured data plus an is_complete flag
  5. If is_complete is false, the AI asks a follow-up question (up to 3 turns)
  6. Once complete, extracted fields are stored in session data and the workflow continues

Configuration options

  • prompt - The text prompt shown to the visitor
  • placeholder - Input field placeholder text
  • max_input_chars - Maximum characters allowed (default: 2000)
  • fields to extract - The structured fields the AI should identify from the response
  • next_step - Step to continue to once extraction is complete

Multi-turn extraction

When the AI detects that the visitor's response did not include all the information needed, it will generate a targeted follow-up question and ask the visitor again. This repeats up to 3 times before the workflow moves on regardless, ensuring conversations never get stuck.
