What is the Splash Screen module?

The Splash Screen module displays a bot message containing configurable content - a welcome message, announcement, operating hours notice, or legal disclaimer - and then renders a single "Continue" button. The visitor reads the content and clicks Continue to advance to the next step in the workflow.

It is the simplest and cleanest way to present important information at the start of a chat without immediately asking a question. It acts as a soft gate - visitors see the content and confirm they are ready to proceed.

How it works

1. The module waits for an optional configurable delay (delay_ms)
2. The content or message is rendered as a bot message in the chat
3. A button is shown with configurable text (default: "Continue")
4. When the visitor clicks the button, the workflow advances to next_step

Configuration options

• content / message - The text or HTML to display as the splash message
• button_text - Custom label for the Continue button (default: "Continue")
• delay_ms - Optional delay before showing the message (milliseconds)
• next_step - The step to advance to when the visitor clicks Continue

When to use Splash Screen

• Welcome messages - "Welcome to Acme Support. We're here Mon-Fri 9am-5pm."
• Announcements - Holiday closures, service disruptions, new features
• Disclaimers - Privacy notices, terms of service acknowledgements, GDPR information before data collection
• Topic scoping - Letting visitors know what this chat can and cannot help with before they begin
• Branding moments - A branded intro before the workflow begins to reinforce your identity

Difference from the Message module

The standard Message module displays content and immediately advances to the next step without waiting for any input. The Splash Screen module is identical in content display but adds a Continue button gate - the workflow pauses until the visitor explicitly clicks to proceed.
